The motorway operated by the French Fréjus road tunnel company includes the Maurienne valley section. The A43, known as the Maurienne, runs between the town ofAiton and the Fréjus tunnel on the way toItaly via the Alps.

This toll motorway, also known as La Maurienne, is a major road in the southern French Alps. Stretching for around 185 kilometres, the motorway links the Lyon metropolitan area to Modane and the Fréjus tunnel, passing through the Maurienne valley.
The Fréjus Tunnel, also known as the Mont Cenis Tunnel, is a key feature of the route. 12.9 kilometres long, it links Modane in France to Bardonnèche in Italy.
This motorway is an essential link between France, Switzerland and Italy, facilitating access to ski resorts, Alpine tourist destinations and trans-Alpine trade.
