Shuttle service between Sète and Mèze

A shuttle service between Sète and Mèze?

The maritime shuttle between Mèze and Sète is a unique transport service linking these two towns located around the Bassin de Thau, in the Hérault department in the Occitanie region(France). This maritime link makes it easier to travel around the pond, while offering an environmentally friendly and picturesque alternative to road journeys. It can also be used to transport bicycles to the local greenways.

The Navette crosses the width of the Etang de Thau, a lagoon covering 7,500 hectares(75 km2), renowned for its ecological wealth and its fishing and shellfish farming activities (oyster, mussel and other shellfish farming). Sète, often referred to as the Little Venice of Languedoc, is a major fishing and trading port, while Mèze is renowned for its historical heritage, tourist attractions and beaches.

With a 95-seater boat, you can cross the lake in around 30 minutes, depending on the weather, between Sète station and the port of Mèze, with 7 return trips a day throughout the summer.

The maritime shuttle linking the two banks of the canal to the port of the two towns is accessible to people with reduced mobility and has 70 covered places with space for bicycles and pushchairs.
Please note, however, that when departing from Sète, a stone staircase makes it necessary to carry mobile equipment.

Green route and shuttle bus

And thanks to the greenway, which runs in a semicircle around the Etang de Thau, and the roads, paths and mountain bike trails that complete it, you can cycle to Méze or Sète on the outward or return journey, in addition to the shuttle bus for a day on the water and on the pedals!
There are two possible routes, depending on your bike and your motivation: either via Balaruc-les-Bains, which is the shortest and best equipped, or via Marseillan and then along the coast to Sète.

And residents of the Sète conurbation can take advantage of a reduced fare for holders of the Sam Pass, the public transport pass for the Sète conurbation, valid on the maritime shuttle between Sète and Mèze throughout the season.
