World Heritage sites

The world heritage coordinated by UNESCO brings together cultural and natural sites of outstanding universal value, to be protected for future generations.

Since its creation in 1972, this international programme has inscribed nearly 1,200 sites around the world, reflecting the diversity of humanity. Faced with challenges such as climate change, conflict and mass tourism, the UN’s cultural and educational organisation continues to adapt its strategies to preserve these treasures. Here is the map and list of World Heritage sites.
