Since 15 December 2019, the Léman Express network has provided a rail link between Switzerland and France.

LEX for short, or the Franco-Vaud-Geneva regional express network (RER), the Léman Express links the departments ofAin and Haute-Savoie in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region with the cantons of Geneva and Vaud in Switzerland.

In addition to the local authorities involved, the political driving force behind the project, a company, Lemanis, was created in 2017 by the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and the Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF).

Léman Express interconnection

In France, the Léman Express serves 2 stations in the Ain département and 15 in Haute-Savoie.
In both countries, the overall project involves 45 stations and 230 kilometres of track linked to 6 regular lines.

From Lake Geneva to Lake Annecy, this regional and cross-border rail network facilitates daily connections between the main border towns in the French departments and the Swiss cantons around Lake Geneva.
