With a road network of 10,058 kilometres, comprising all types of roads (local, departmental and motorways) across an area of 5,726 square kilometres (km²), coaches and buses in the Cantal are the main form of daily public transport in the department.

On-demand transport (ODT)
The Cantal Departmental Council supports local areas that operate an on-demand transport service (TAD) for rural municipalities in the department.
