The Ardèche has 11,169 kilometres of road network, including 3,800 departmental roads, but no passenger rail stations and no motorways. The department is therefore mainly served by coaches and buses for public transport.

Today, there are no longer any SNCF train services for travellers in the Ardèche, only departmental and regional bus services.

The nearest passenger rail stations are in the Drôme:

Montélimar, Valence, Tain-l’hermitage (Tournon-sur-Rhône), Saint-Vallier and Le-Péage-de-Roussillon in Isère.
